Citizen Board Appointment
MFPRSI is accepting applications for the position of citizen representative on its Board of Trustees. The term for MFPRSI's citizen representative trustee will expire on April 30, 2026. Individuals interested in this position may submit a letter of qualification to our office by Monday, June 12, 2023. The Trustees will discuss all candidates at its meeting on June 22, 2023.

The Board Manual, which outlines the role, duties, and responsibilities of the Trustees is available at the bottom of this post. The selection of a citizen member to MFPRSI's Board of Trustees is stated in MFPRSI's Administrative Rules, Section 1.11 as follows:
1.11 Appointment of the Citizen Member.
Pursuant to section 411.36(d), the citizen member of the Board shall be appointed by the other members of the Board. Upon the existence of a vacancy in the position of citizen member or at the expiration of the incumbent’s term, the Board shall make said appointment following consultation with the governing bodies of the Iowa Association of Professional Firefighters, the Iowa State Police Association, and the Iowa League of Cities, and posting of the vacancy on the System’s website. The Board may, in its discretion, use additional means to provide notice of such a vacancy to interested individuals. An incumbent citizen member may be reappointed by the Board.
