IRS Levy
In accordance with Federal Regulatory requirements, the retirement System must recognize and conform to the requirements of an Internal Revenue Service Levy. Such action by the IRS places a claim on all or a portion of the monthly benefits of a retired member or beneficiary receiving payments from the System.
Marital Property Orders (MPO) & Child Support Orders (CSO)
In accordance with the requirements of the Iowa Code and applicable Court decisions, the retirement System must comply with the requirements of a qualified Marital Property Order established by a Court during the dissolution of a marriage.
A Marital Property Order must meet the requirements of the System as established by Chapter 411 of the Code of Iowa and therefore, should be submitted to the System for approval prior to finalization by the District Court.
Additionally, the System also must comply with Child Support Orders filed with the System by the Child Support Recovery Division of the State of Iowa.
